地- Feel the spirit of the land
In Sancheong, there is a wondrous Royal Tomb built of stone. It is believed to be the tomb of King Guhyeong, the last ruler of the Gaya Kingdom. Wracked with guilt from handing over the Gaya nation to Silla, his dying wish was to be buried in a stone tomb, it is said. That may be why no kudzu vines climb over the tomb, and even moss and grass don’t grow here, or so the mysterious story goes.
Where meandering fence walls of stone and of clay blend effortlessly with the simple beauty of traditional Hanok- This is Namsa Yedamchon, the number-one “most beautiful village in Korea.” Three-hundred-year-old houses and seven-hundred-year-old trees tell stories of olden times. The ‘San & cheong’ brand is a label granted only to agricultural products of superior purity, organically grown in Sancheong County They say the secret behind the flavor of Sancheong’s gotgam--dried persimmons--is the natural freeze-drying process as the fruit is tempered countless times by the cool breezes of Jirisan in a continuous cycle of freezing by night and thawing by day This produces the tastiest, chewiest gotgam in Korea.
